Ghana: N4J/ NCRC First Initiative

Nature-based Solutions in Global Biodiversity Hotspot

N4J will support Nature Conservation Research Center (NCRC) in Ghana to develop feasibility studies on Nature-based Solutions (NbS) projects in the Guinea High Forest Biodiversity Hotspot in eastern Ghana.

NCRC is a pioneering organization in the climate space working with indigenous leaders and private and public stakeholders to support landscape level implementation of the Ghana Cocoa Forest REDD+ Programme (GCFRP) and Cocoa Forest Initiative (CFI).  In that work NCRC has set the stage for achieving LandScale sustainable landscape certification being promoted by VERRA.

This initiative will contribute to Ghana’s national climate change goals and support offset goals of partner companies.

N4J’s support will include financial resources and technical expertise on key aspects of developing NbS projects.  N4J is placing emphasis on building in-country expertise through this project.
